nest series
The Nest Series began during a time when I found myself reflecting on the meaning of security and what it means to feel grounded amid change. As I navigated life's transitions, the nest emerged as a recurring motif. It became a symbol through which I could explore ideas of shelter, resilience, vulnerability, and renewal.
Using texture to build depth and surface interest, along with atmospheric colour and expressive brushwork, each painting evolved as a response to a particular season of experience. While rooted in my own journey, the nest carries universal associations that allow the work to extend beyond the personal and invite individual interpretation.
Influenced by the tradition of still life painting, these works contemplate the delicate balance between strength and fragility, abundance and scarcity, permanence and impermanence. Through the nest, I explored how we create a sense of belonging and stability while adapting to the inevitable changes that shape our lives.
