I began this series of paintings when life circumstances had me evaluating the meaning of security. The nest motif became a regular part of my art practice as I considered the effects of change and navigated life experiences. I used texture to add drama and surface interest, colour and brush work to create atmospheric effects and each painting became an emotive and personal expression of a particular  'season’. In the tradition of the historic still life genre, they speak to notions of strength and fragility, abundance and scarcity.
